Case Study: Web Redesign & SEO Tuneup

website redesign case studyMarin’s Crystal Clear Pools had a paid search engine listing, but wanted better organic (non-paid) search results. The owner chose to beef up the SEO copywriting and decided it was time to improve the look of the site at the same time. That was a good call on his part; the original site looked visually outdated, and under the hood it was the same story with the coding. The old site was built using tables, an old method that creates code-heavy, slow loading pages. Modern browsers favor the more nimble CSS coding.

The new web design fits the client’s “crystal clear” business with plenty of white space, a clear messaging hierarchy, and crisp images. The new site is replete with search engine optimization must-haves: css, image alt-tags, keyword-rich titles and descriptions, navigation coded as an unordered list, headlines properly coded with h1 tags, etc. The professionally-written and well organized text is easy to read on the redesigned site — gone are the fluid width pages that expand the line length to an uncomfortable width for reading. The navigation menu tells customers at a glance what services are provided. The SEO copy is geo-specific, resulting in more local customer prospects visiting the site.
